Vitamin B6 [Pyridoxine]

ree

Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions. It is essential for the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, which means it helps your body convert the food you eat into energy. Additionally, vitamin B6 is necessary for proper brain development and function.

Health Benefits

Energy Production: Vitamin B6 is essential for turning the food you eat into energy. It helps convert carbohydrates into glucose, which your body uses for fuel. This process keeps you energized throughout the day.

Brain Health: Vitamin B6 is involved in the production of

neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that transmit signals in the brain. This vitamin helps maintain proper brain function and may even support mood regulation.

Heart Health: Some studies suggest that vitamin B6 may help reduce levels of homocysteine, an amino acid linked to an increased risk of heart disease. By keeping homocysteine levels in check, vitamin B6 may support heart health.

Immune Support: Vitamin B6 plays a role in the production of antibodies, which are essential for a strong immune system. It helps your body fight off infections and stay healthy.

Food Sources*

Chicken Breast: 3 oz of cooked chicken breast provides 38.5% of the RDV for Vitamin B6.

Salmon: 3 oz of cooked salmon provides 38.5% of the RDV for Vitamin B6.

Banana: 1 medium banana (7-8 inches) has about 30.8% of the RDV for Vitamin B6.
